Australian side Perth Scorchers have ignored left-handed batsman Marcus North and former South African opener Herschelle Gibbs for the upcoming Champions League T20 tournament in India.
Gibbs had a good outing in his first season of the Big Bash League in 2011 but failed to repeat performance last summer. North was also dropped after string of poor performances in the last 12 months.
According to Sydney Morning Herald, Simon Katich will lead the 15-man squad of the Scorchers with spinner Brad Hogg also named in the side, while Ashton Agar also featuring in the side. Scorchers also have South African fast bowler Alfonso Thomas rejoining their squad.
The likes of Nathan Coulter-Nile and Michael Hussey couldn’t be considered as they were selected by their respective Indian Premier League franchises Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings respectively. Pat Cummins is also out due to injury.
