South Africa Left-arm spinner Robin Peterson is keen on making an impact in the Champions League T20 2014 (CLT20) with his new spin variation. Peterson and fellow teammate and spinner Dane Piedt have been practicing the variation similar to a carom ball by a right-arm spinner. Peterson will be representing the Cape Cobras in the Champions League.

“Both Dane and I have been working on it. I can regularly bowl that delivery now and I also used it in England,” Peterson was quoted as saying by Sport24.

Peterson was dropped from the team after South Africa’s home series against Australia. But the all-rounder is focusing on the T20 format to malke a difference. “The SA team is so good that they wouldn’t want to change the squad right now. But frankly, my focus is on the Cobras and on winning trophies for them,” he added. “I was just playing too much and was suffering (mentally) because of too much cricket. Right now, I am in a good space. On the pre-season tour of the Cobras (to Potchefstroom and Johannesburg) I bowled with great rhythm. I’m also striking the ball beautifully,” he said.

Peterson has been in good form and helped Surrey win the domestic T20 championship recently. The Cobras will begin their Champions League campaign on September 19 against a team which will make it to the main league from the Qualifiers.
