The placid wickets in India have often been a deathbed for visiting pacers over the years but with two match-winning performances to boot in two games for Northern Knights, Trent Boult is scaling new heights.

Boult admits that he had to change his lengths differently for the Indian wickets but attacking the batsmen has been very much a part of his success, admits Boult, “I feel you always have to look to take wickets. If you are looking to just go through your overs without getting a wicket for your side, it doesn’t really help. Trying to take wickets is a huge part of the plan. We have never had heat like this, we’ve have never had crowds like these and as you said, the wickets are completely different from what they are back home. We have done well to adapt. “Boult was quoted as saying to

With Tim Southee bowling in tandem with Boult, New Zealand have one of the most potent new ball bowlers in world cricket. Boult said, “I enjoy bowling with him. I have known him for a lot of years now, we have grown up together and played age group cricket together and I have learnt a lot from him. He is a great bowler and that is why he is amongst the top ten in the world.”

As a pair, we just go about keeping things simple. We try our best to put the ball in the right spot and hope for success from there.

Apart from the genuine swing and pace that he extracts, Boult’s bouncers have also been a menace to batsmen, to which he says, “The bouncer is one of my go-to deliveries and I would say it is one of the strengths to have in your armoury. I think you would be pretty stupid not to use it. No one likes getting hit on the nose and it makes it the hardest delivery to hit if you get it right. “

The southpaw names Wasim Akram as his role-model and is looking forward to meet his side, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), where the pace legend is in the support staff and Boult also wants to replicated his idol’s toe-crashing deliveries.

he said, “I look up to him and I have grown up watching him. He is a world-class bowler and hopefully if we progress and come up against the Kolkata Knight Riders, it would be a good opportunity to rub shoulders with him. I look forward to that, if it happens. Given an option, I would want to bowl the reverse swing from round the wicket, ripping the stumps just like him.”
