Batting collapse by Kolkata Knight Riders led to the team losing to Mumbai Indians by 8 wickets at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.
Winning the toss, MI had opted to bowl first.

KKR innings began on a shaky note, as they lost wickets of Sunil Narine in the 1st over, who was followed by Quinton de Kock in the 2nd over and Ajinkya Rahane by the end of 4th over. As the powerplay was coming close to an end, Venkatesh Iyer was also dismissed, and KKR were 4 down for 41 in 6 overs, with being half team down by the 7th over.

The downfall in the batting lineup was severe, and the team played slowly after that, as they did not lose any wicket till the 10th over. However, right after the half inning mark, Rinku Singh and Manish Pandey got dismissed in a single over, and KKR was 7 down in 11 overs. Andre Russell got dismissed by the 13th over as the team was not even at 100 runs. The match was looking like Kolkata would not even post 100 on board, but the team somewhat steadied.

KKR was at 94/8 when they had played 14 overs, and Andre Russell was the player who got dismissed in the next over and the team had barely crossed the 100-run mark by the 15th over. Ramandeep Singh was the final wicket to go down as Kolkata posted a total of 116 on the board.

Mumbai Innings began on a good note, as the opening pair had score 42 runs in the first 4 overs. However, Rohit Sharma yet again failed to provide a big impact and got dismissed by the end of powerplay as MI was 55/1.

Will Jacks was the one to come in, and he continuously rotated strike with Ryan Rickelton, who hit calculated shots across the ground and even scored a half century. By the time half innings had completed, MI was at 89 runs, where 58 runs were by Ryan himself.

Andre Russell then found the second wicket from the Mumbai lineup, as Will Jacks got dismissed and MI was at 97/2 after 11 overs. However, the match was nothing less than a victory, as Suryakumar Yadav and Ryan Rickelton easily led the team towards a victory by 8 wickets.
