CPL 2016: Shane Watson’s embarrassing mistake leaves everyone laughing
Shane Watson's embarrassing mistake leaves everyone laughing

Shane Watson committed blunder on the field, not with his performance but with his calculating skills. Watson started walking off the field after 19th over as he miscalculated and thought St Lucia Zouks‘ innings was over. Skipper Darren Sammy was on the other end as he stopped Watson and told him that there is still an over left in the innings. Watson still did not believe that and argued with Sammy that his calculation is correct until on-field Umpire stepped in and told him that 20th over is still left. However, Jamaica Tallawahs would have wished that St Lucia Zouks’ innings would have ended sooner as Watson went on to score 18 runs in the final over including two sixes. Watson played a lightening fast innings scoring 42 from 17 balls which included five sixes. It was quite surprising to see no fours in the innings. His cameo towards the end helped St Lucia Zouks to reach 4 for 194 in the first innings. Watson’s strike rate was astonishing clocking at 247.05. Watson also worked his magic with the ball ending his figures with 1 for 26 in four overs. His economy rate of 6.50 was commendable for a T20 match.
St Lucia Zouks won the match by 17 runs against Jamaica Tallawahs, thanks to Jonathan Charles and Andre Fletcher’s half-centuries. Nevertheless, Watson was named man of the match for his performance with both bat and ball, sealing the win for St Lucia Zouks. But this will be considered as one of the funniest incident on the field as Watson did not even believe his teammate and skipper Sammy even after he told him that there is one more over left in the innings.
