Guyana Amazon Warriors eased to a comfortable seven-wicket win when they chased down a modest total of 122 inside 16 overs against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Afghanistan legspinner Qais Ahmad claimed 3/28 to bowl the Patriots out for 121 in 19 overs, after which Brandon King orchestrated a stunning assault to make it four wins out of four matches for the Warriors.

Opting to bowl, Warriors pacer Chris Green castled Devon Thomas cheaply. Laurie Evans and Mohammad Hafeez batted with caution to take the score to 36 at the end of Powerplay. But Evans’ run out triggered a slide for the Patriots. After affecting that run out, Imran Tahir removed Jason Mohammed and Dominic Drakes in quick succession, setting the perfect platform for Ahmad to make inroads.

The legspinner, who had already dismissed Hafeez, removed a set Shamarth Brooks for 34 and had Fabian Allen caught by Keemo Paul. Alzarri Joseph smacked a six and a boundary for an 8-ball 15, without which even 120 seemed improbable for the Patriots.
If they had any hopes of picking up early wickets, they were dashed by King, who blasted 49 off 24 with seven boundaries and three sixes. He and Chandrapaul Hemraj added 64 in the Powerplay before the Patriots’ wait for a wicket finally ended. A terrific piece of work in the outfield from Mohammed and Smith ran King out. Two runs later, Shimron Hetmyer fell to Hafeez.
But turns out that early onslaught from King had inflicted enough damage. Hemraj departed for a 25-ball 22 but Shoaib Malik and Nicholas Pooran hardly broke a sweat and added an unbeaten 36 to see the side through to victory.
