New Zealand all-rounder Craig McMillan, who played for the country from 1997 to 2007, has been named batting coach for the side’s upcoming tour to the West Indies.

According to a release by the official ICC website, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) Head of Cricket Lindsay Crocker said, “We had a number of strong applicants from New Zealand and abroad, but overall we felt that Craig was the best fit for the role.”

Crocker concluded by talking in detail about McMillan’s credentials. “Apart from being a former player himself, Craig’s worked with Canterbury Cricket and also spent some time in the New Zealand camp. His commentary work has also given him extensive knowledge of both New Zealand and West Indies squads and those qualities placed him ahead of the other candidates.”
