Cricket Australia named former Test player John Inverarity as the full-time national selector on Friday.
According to the statement, Inverarity will take up the role in ahead of Australia’s first Test against New Zealand in December.
Inverarity replaces current part-time national selection panel chairman Andrew Hilditch.
Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland said Inverarity and the head coach will both report to Howard.
“This is a role that requires deep high performance cricket experience and knowledge, outstanding leadership and communication skills, personal integrity and an insight into what is needed to encourage the best performance outcomes from young athletes,” Sutherland said of Inverarity’s role.
