Cricket fraternity paid tribute to former England captain Andrew Strauss whose retirement from all forms of cricket on Wednesday surprised many in world cricket.

Cricket fraternity paid tribute to former England captain Andrew Strauss whose retirement from all forms of cricket on Wednesday surprised many in world cricket.
Many current and former cricketers took to social networking site Twitter to express their thoughts on Strauss’ exit.
England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) wrote, “Thank you for the memories Andrew Strauss!”
England pacer and Strauss’ teammate Stuart Broad said, “ Awesome guy, great leader, dependable batsman and a solid 1 slip catcher. Cheers Straussy you’ll be playing scratch golf within a year… Best Straussy knock for me was his 100 on the 1st day of the Ashes Test at Lords, allowed us bowlers to have a massive lunch!”
“Really sad to hear Straussy has called it a day. He’s done so much for this England team not just as captain but also as a player…. He will be missed but he hands over to a very fine replacement in Alastair Cook. Best of luck to Cooky and to Straussy in his future,” wrote James Anderson.
Left-handed batsman Eoin Morgan said, “Sad news that Straussy is retiring but I would like to congratulate him on an amazing career. A great leader and a pleasure to play with!!”
Former South Africa cricketer Shaun Pollock expressed, “Big news in England, Strauss quits international cricket !! Well done on a great career!
“Sad to see Strauss retires from cricket! Fantastic career, best captain England have ever had! Good luck to Cookie, perfect replacement!,” wrote Luke Wright.
“Having captained both Alastair Cook & Andy Flower I know for sure they will work very well together. Andy will take even more of a lead. Andrew Strauss retires from International cricket, incredible. Didn’t see that coming in April, who did!!!” wrote former England international Ronnie Irani.
Australia coach Mickey Arthur too expressed his wished to Strauss. “Sad to hear the news that Andrew Strauss has retired from professional cricket-he was a great leader for England.”
Former India opener Aakash Chopra too paid tribute to Strauss on micro-blogging site, “Strauss calls it a day much before the whispers could turn into cries. Playing 100 Test matches is an incredible achievement. Well done.”
