CSK’s official retention list: Gaikwad gets big pay day, Dhoni retained as uncapped player

The 5-time IPL champions have retained 5 players ahead of the mega auction, most important of them being MS Dhoni who has been retained for 4 crore

5-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have announced the players that they will retain ahead of the 2025 IPL mega auction.

There weren’t many surprises on offer here as Ruturaj Gaikwad, who captained the side during the last season has been given a whopping Rs 18 crore as retention fee. Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been given exactly the same amount.

Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana, who is the only overseas player to be retained by the franchise, has been retained for Rs 13 crore while explosive Indian batter Shivam Dube has been given Rs 12 crore.

Finally, legendary wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni has been retained in the uncapped category by CSK and has been given Rs 4 crore. All eyes will be on Dhoni as this could very well be his last IPL season.

All-in-all these picks are pretty solid to say the least and all these retained players will for sure play a massive role in CSK’s 2025 IPL campaign.
