India stand-in captain Virender Sehwag stated that current Australian pace army the best he has faced in his 95-Test career.

“I think they are bowling good areas. They are not giving easy balls to hit boundaries,” Sehwag was quoted saying in Herald Sun.

“They are playing with patience. I think it is the best bowling attack I have ever seen, especially against Australia.

“When I have played in the past I get a couple of balls in an over to hit a boundary but now I hardly get any balls to hit.”

The claim by Sehwag is arguably an attempt to hose down Gambhir’s outburst on Sunday, which included calling for all Indian wickets to be prepared as “rank turners”.

Sehwag was part of the Indian team that lost 2-1 in a drought-breaking Australian win on Indian soil in 2004.

That touring side’s bowlers were Glenn McGrath, Jason Gillespie, Michael Kasprowicz and Shane Warne.
