Former Australia batsman David Boon visited the Gujarat Cricket Association’s (GCA) Umpires’ Academy at the Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera, to motivate upcoming match officials.
During his address at the academy, Boon, who is the match referee for the ongoing series between India and the West Indies, asked aspiring umpires to foresee and use common sense in uncertain situations.
He suggested that they should go step by step and not try to jump the ladder in such situations.
Boon was accompanied by ICC Elite umpire Tony Hill and International Panel Umpire from India, Sudhir Asnani.
Hill described umpiring as a journey where one could learn something new every time.
He also emphasised on the need for coordination with the partner umpire to ease work.(PTI)
