Karachi: Former England batsman David Gower has welcomed Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Aamer’s return to international cricket, saying it is good for the sport. Aamer, along with former skipper Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif, were found guilty of various offences of corrupt behaviour relating to the Lord’s Test between England and Pakistan in August 2010 by the independent Anti-Corruption Tribunal in February 2011. Insisting it would be unfair for Aamer to be treated in the same way as the other two, the 59-year-old pointed out that the former has done everything right to reach at this stage since his return from the five-year-ban in September 2015. Gower also acknowledged Aamer’s involvement in the re-education of Pakistan cricketers, saying he had been held up as a good example in guiding the players to not indulge in illegal activities, Pakpassion.net reported. Describing Aamer as a `talented` player, Gower, who represented England between 1978-1992, admitted the Pakistani player bowls really well and that everyone loves to watch him perform.
