Overs 13: Absolutely no rush from Rishabh Pant or Colin Ingram as they are dealing in singles now. Rightly so considering the danger RR spinners pose on this difficult pitch. DC 81/3

Overs 12: Shreyas Gopal is back. RR captain Ajinkya Rahane clearly wants wickets now and that’s the only way to win from here now. DC know that and avoid playing any rash stroke against Gopal. Just two runs from it. DC 77/3

Overs 11: Gowtham continues. Off the first delivery, Colin Ingram almost chopped on. Five runs from the over. DC 75/3, chasing 116

Overs 10: Stuart into the attack now. Six singles off the over take DC to 70/3. They need 46 runs off 60 deliveries now.

Overs 8: Three runs and a wicket in Shreyas Gopal’s second over. His spell so far: 2-0-4-1

Overs 7.3: OUT! Shreyas Gopal gets his man – Shreyas Iyer goes for the big hit but the timing isn’t perfect as he finds Liam Livingstone near the long-on boundary. He scored 15 off 9. DC 61/3

Overs 7: Riyan Parag into the attack. Rishabh Pant won’t allow to have his say with the ball as well. He smokes the 17-year-old for back-to-back sixes – both over the deep-midwicket region. 14 runs from the over. DC 60/2, chasing 116

Strategic time-out

Overs 6: Oh how quickly fortunes change within the space of six deliveries. After a double-wicket maiden, Ish Sodhi has been taken to the cleaners in his second by DC skipper Shreyas Iyer – hits him for two consecutive sixes. Rishabh Pant then finishes the over with a four through extra cover. 17 runs from it. DC 46/2

Overs 5: Another legspinner introduced – Shreyas Gopal to bowl his first over. Just a single in it. DC 29/2

Overs 4: End of an excellent first over from Ish Sodhi – a double-wicket maiden. DC 28/2

Overs 3.2: OUT! Two in two for Ish Sodhi. Prithvi Shaw chops on to be bowled on 8 off 8. RR are celebrating wildly. Game on.  Sodhi on a hat-trick now. DC 28/2, chasing 116

Overs 3.1: OUT! Shikhar Dhawan was looking in a hurry for an early finish and plays one shot too many to hole out for 16 off 12. Ish Sodhi strikes with his first delivery of the match. DC 28/1, chasing 116

Overs 3: DC openers in full flow now. Shikhar Dhawan if offered some width by Oshane Thomas first-up and the lefty latches onto it crashing it through point for a four. He then places one perfectly for another four. Thomas again offers a freebie to finish the over and Prithvi Shaw dispatches him for another four. 13 runs from it. DC 28/0

Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan to kickstart DC’s chase. RR opt for spin in Krishnappa Gowtham to start the proceedings.

Overs 20: At 17 years and 175 days, Riyan Parag has become the youngest batsman in IPL history to score a half-century. He reaches the milestone with a six. 15 runs from the final over bowled by Trent Boult that included the wicket of Parag, who was out off the final delivery. He scored 50 off 49. RR post 115/9

Overs 19: A good effort from Rutherford – RR manage just two singles off his five deliveries. Three singles in it take RR to 100/8. Riyan Parage managed to retain the strike for the final over.

Overs 18.1: A lengthy delay in proceedings after Keemo Paul pulls out of his run up. He has taken off his shoes. And he has walked off the field. Sherfane Rutherford will complete the over now.

Overs 18: End of a good over from Boult – a wicket and four runs from it. RR 97/8

Overs 17.2: OUT! Trent Boult breaks the partnership thanks to an excellent catch from Amit Mishra at short cover. A slower delivery and Sodhi ends up getting a leading edge that flies to the left of Mishra who dives and completes the catch. Sodhi scored 6. RR 95/8

Overs 17: Ishant Sharma is back. An erratic final over from the veteran. Apart from conceding extra runs, Riyan Parag belts him for two consecutive fours as well. 18 runs from the over. RR 93/7

Overs 16: Keemo Paul returns. Will Rajasthan Royals cross 100? Looks quite difficult going by the way they are progressing. Riyan Parag will be the key though if they hope to hope to post target in three figures. Five runs in Paul’s third over. RR 75/7

Overs 15: Axar Patel continues. Four runs in his fourth and final over. He finishes his tight spell – 4-0-16-0. RR 70/7

Overs 11.4: Nearly! Amit Mishra cannot believe it he has missed out on his fourth IPL hat-trick. Krishnappa Gowtham gets a leading edge that goes high up. Trent Boult calls for the catch and misjudges it. He makes a dive, a valiant effort but fails to hold on to it.

Overs 11.3: OUT! Two in two for Amit Mishra now. Stuart Binny gets an outside edge and Rishabh Pant does the rest. He’s out for a first-ball duck. Mishra on a hat-trick. RR 57/6

Overs 11.2: OUT! Shreyas Gopal steps out and is completely foxed as the ball turns away. Rishabh Pant wastes no time in taking off the bails. He scored 12 off 18. RR 57/5

Overs 11: Keemo Paul continues. Another tight from the home team. RR are struggling to even get singles right now. Two runs in it. RR 55/4

Overs 4.2: OUT! That’s just poor from Rajasthan Royals. No communication between Sanju Samson and Mahipal Lomror. Samson set off for a quick single after playing one to cover point but Lomror was clear about not going for the single. He kept shouting no but Samson didn’t budge. Prithvi Shaw picked up and made a direct-hit. Samson was halfway down the track with no way of returning. He scored 5 off 8. RR 26/3

Overs 4: End of another successful over from Ishant Sharma. Livingstone departed after hitting a four in it. Mahipal Lomror then got off the mark with a four off the first delivery. Nine rune and a wicket in it. RR 24/2

TOSS: Rajasthan Royals win toss, opt to bat first against Delhi Capitals

Hello and welcome to live coverage of Match 53 of the 2019 Indian Premier League, which pits the already qualified Delhi Capitals against the Rajasthan Royals, who find themselves in a must-win situation. A loss here for the Royals will end their hopes of making in to the Playoffs and send them packing.

Needing a win to stay alive, Rajasthan Royals – with 11 points – cannot afford a poor game. Lose, and their IPL season is over. Despite having a poorer net run-rate than Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan could still end up ahead of them on the IPL 2019 points table if they beat Delhi. This would give them 13 points.

But RR would still hope that Kolkata Knight Riders and KXIP lose their remaining games. Led by Steve Smith until now, RR are unbeaten in their last three matches, the most recent being the washout against eliminated Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Sanju Samson (captain and wk), Shreyas Iyer, Liam Livingstone (vice-captain), Axar Patel, Riyan Parag, Amit Mishra, Sandeep Lamichhane, Shreyas Gopal, Trent Boult
