Delhi Development Cricket Association (DDCA) president Sneh Bansal and vice-president CK Khanna have responded to Justice Mukul Mudgal’s report, calling his scathing attack on them as ‘unfair’. Justice Mudgal earlier this week hit out at DDCA’s functioning during Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016. His most scathing attack was on Khanna, pointing out a potential conflict of interest on his part. On Page 14 and 15 under Topic No V ‘Role of various functionaries of DDCA’ (sub-headers A to E), the former Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court gave his observations on Khanna. Mudgal also expressed the need of scrutiny by BCCI on DDCA. ALSO READ: Justice Mudgal blasts DDCA officials in his report
Speaking about the report submitted by Justice Mudgal, DDCA president Bansal was quoted by cricbuzz as saying, “We will not follow his recommendations in toto. But we are not going to contest his report either. We will just respond to the court. The report said DDCA made profits from matches for the first time. We want to say the association had never incurred losses in the previous matches played.”
CK Khanna, the vice-president of DDCA, backed his association of taking better steps. “We have had the first executive board meeting for the first time in eight months and we have already decided to hire a CEO and CFO. We are also coming up with an ethics committee and a happiness committee, which is inspired from corporate companies in Europe. We are also planning a get together for former and current players and hoping to get a few players on board for a cricket advisory committee.”
Anil Khanna, general secretary and cousin of DDCA vice-president CK Khanna, also hit out at Justice Mudgal’s report. “Mudgal praised treasurer Ravinder Manchanda in his report but then said there were financial deficiencies and lack of accountability. Isn’t he contradicting himself? He has been clearly misguided.”
