New Delhi: There is no question of giving a “clean chit” to union minister and former chief of Delhi cricket association Arun Jaitley when an investigation into its alleged financial irregularities has not even begun, the Delhi government said on Monday. “No clean chit has been given to anyone in Delhi cricket body probe. The enquiry is yet to begin,” Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia told the media. The Bharatiya Janata party on Sunday pointed out that a Delhi government report on irregularities in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) did not even name Jaitley, who headed the association for 15 long years from 1999 to 2013. The BJP said the AAP government owe Jaitley an apology for charging him with corruption in DDCA even though its own report found nothing culpable against him. Dismissing the BJP’s demand for an aopology, Sisodia raised a number of questions on financial irregularities in DDCA’s functioning and in giving tenders for work already done. “Election commission of DDCA, Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO), and fact finding committee have found scams involving crores of rupees. How fake companies were created and given tenders and how payments were given for work which had already been done,” he said. “The election commission reports also say that private cricket academies are being run under the umbrella of DDCA. There is no scope for students of school and colleges to participate in league matches of DDCA,” he said. READ: DDCA must be suspended by BCCI, according to 3-member inquiry panel

There was total corruption in the DDCA, he alleged. “There is corruption in election (in DDCA), constructions of stadiums, proxy voting; there are financial irregularities. The report says that there is a lot of corruption in the organisation.” Sisodia said an inquiry commission headed by former solicitor general Gopal Subramaniam that the city government set up has yet to start its probe, and that Jaitley would have a lot to answer for.
