DDCA to disburse IPL prize money among ground-staff, chief curator

New Delhi: The Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) is all set to disburse the entire IPL prize money of Rs 12.5 lakh among its 112 ground-staff and chief curator Ankit Datta after getting a go-ahead from Justice Mukul Mudgal, who was its observer during the cash-rich league last season. The DDCA along with Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) were awarded Rs 25 lakh for having the “Best Ground and Pitch”. “We have received the official approval from Justice Mudgal so that we can divide the entire prize money amount among the ground-staff as well as the general staff, who worked tirelessly during the IPL to make it a success. Our young curator Ankit deserves special mention for the effort he has put in and will be rewarded with Rs 1 lakh,” DDCA Head of Cricket Operations Siddharth Verma told PTI today.

Curator Ankit Datta, who came in for special praise from Indian captain Virat Kohli during the South Africa series, is being awarded Rs 1 lakh from the share of prize money. The 11 permanent ground-staff are being rewarded with Rs 40,000 each while 7 temporary ground-staff, who were specially hired will be paid Rs 30,000 each. Two helpers will be getting Rs 20,000 while in a first ever move, 92 DDCA general staff will also be paid Rs 5,000 each.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) led by David Warner lifted their first-ever IPL trophy when they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the final on May 29 at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium.
