Debabrata Das, whose big hitting had earned him some renown in the domestic T20 circuit at one point, smashed 224 against Kumartuli Institute at Bhowanipore Club, Kolkata today. Das smashed 13 fours and as many sixes in his 174-ball innings. He was helped by Bengal cricketer Anustup Majumdar, whose 118 came in 124 balls, as Mohun Bagan Athletic Club reached 573 for 9 in mere 81 overs (at an astonishing 7.07 an over). This was Das s third consecutive hundred in the league. He started with 315 against Bhukailash Sporting Club at Bata Ground. In his previous match, against Netaji Subhas Institute at High Court Ground, he had slammed 237.

As a matter of fact, Das has amassed 776 runs at an astonishing 258.67 from three innings. This is a phenomenal someone who was dropped from the Mohun Bagan side last year. Das had played Ranji Trophy for Bengal in 2012-13, but he is more proficient in the limited-overs circuit. His strike rates of 90 in 50-over cricket and 129 in the 20-over format bear testimony to his style. Das had played for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL (he was in their squad till 2013). He has been named among the Bengal probables for this season s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
