The Uttar Pradesh government has appointed India all-rounder Deepti Sharma as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). The 26-year-old all-rounder has been a steady member of the national side, delivering time and again in crucial moments. Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, awarded her the honor and a financial reward of INR 3 crore.
Notably, Deepti’s rise to prominence began in the poor area of Awadhpuri in Agra, where she honed her cricketing abilities alongside local legends such as Deepak Chahar. After honing her talents, the cricketer earned her international debut in 2014. Since then, the all-rounder has played 194 times for the national team, taking 229 wickets. She has been a handy batter in the lower order, playing a crucial role in the Women’s Asia Cup in 2018 and 2022.

She also won gold in the Asian Games in China and silver at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where India lost to Australia in the final. Deepti became the second Indian woman cricketer to gain the ICC ‘Player of the Month’ award in December 2023, because to her outstanding all-around performance. She was outstanding in the one-day international series against Australia, finishing as the series’ joint-leading wicket-taker with Georgia Wareham. In an interview with India Today, the all-rounder emphasized her thanks and her ambition to promote women’s cricket in India and around the country.
