Despite a good start to their innings, Namibia failed to carry forward the momentum as they lost the match to Ireland. This was the seventh match of the Desert T20 2017, at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. Namibia, who were coming off a defeat against UAE, started batting destructively but Ireland made a good comeback in the game, restricting the opponent to a gettable total, chasing down the target of 147 with 2 balls remaining. With this, Ireland have registered their first victory in the tournament and remain alive in the tournament. He can still make it to the semi-final of the action-packed T20 tournament.

Stephen Baard and Louis van der Wetshuizen provided the team with the ideal start as they built up an 81-run opening stand. Westhuizen scored a 25-ball 50, inclusive of 4 fours and 3 sixes before departing, while Baard added 32. No other cricketer managed to play a big knock and Namibia went on losing wickets at regular intervals. Gerrie Snyman’s 21 off 18 was the only mentionable contribution in the middle-order as Namibia. From 81 for no loss in 8.4 overs, Namibia ended their innings at 146 for 9 from 20 overs. Bowling for Ireland, Craig Young, Joshua Little, Jacob Mulder and Kevin O’Brien all chipped in with wickets.
