The intensity of Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is buoyant and has witnessed some lively moments in the tournament. One can expect some brilliant and breathtaking catches to be taken throughout the tournament as the fielding standards set by these players are very high. In the third match of the inaugural CPL season, between Barbados Tridents and Antigua Hawksbills, Devon Thomas of Hawkbills took a magnificent catch at mid-off to dismiss the explosive Barbadian batsman Dwayne Smith.

Tridents won the toss and elected to bat first and Smith, who carries a reputation of taking on the bowlers at the start of the innings, was beginning to warm up. Batting on eight, Smith looked to shift gears and on the third delivery of the third over from Kemar Roach, which was full, Smith tried to loft it over the in-field as the powerplay was on. He managed to middle the ball but failed to get the elevation. The ball was flying away from Thomas, who was deployed at the mid-off area. He in no time moved couple of steps to his left, leaped high in the air and grabbed the ball with his right hand to pull off a beauty. The whole team including Smith was stunned by this effort as it almost looked like impossible catch.
