India cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has written to the Bihar government, seeking permission to set up a sports academy in the state.
Art, Culture and Youth Affairs Minister, Sukhda Pandey today said Dhoni, in a letter to Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, has expressed this desire to set up a sports academy and sought allotment of land for the purpose.
She, however, added that the cricketer has neither mentioned any particular place in Bihar for setting up the academy nor any specific sport.
Stating that Dhoni has also not submitted any detailed project report, Pandey said, “He would be asked to submit the same for the proposed academy, on which Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would take a final decision.”
Dhoni had represented Bihar in various cricket tournaments at the national level before bifurcation of the state in 2000.
