Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi s splendid five wicket haul which spoilt Canada s hopes of an upset win, has come in for copious praise from losing skipper Ashish Bagai.

Bagai said that it becomes a tough ask to score off Afridi once he gets wickets under his belt. “We started off with the approach of trying to milk him for 30-35 runs, but once he gets wickets he gets right on top of you.

He gets his variations going and then it gets harder and harder,” said Bagai who fell to the Pakistan captain for 16.

Afridi bagged returns of 5 for 23 from his 10 overs, including four wickets in his second spell, to help Pakistan pull off a fighting 46-run win over the Canadians.

The Canada skipper flayed the poor performance of the batsmen and also rued the missed opportunity of scripting a historic win over Pakistan. “There is no point to playing cricket if you don’t think you can win the game and at no point do we think we can’t but unfortunately our batting has let us down tremendously and it’s very disappointing.
