The former BCCI president PM Rungta, who passed away on Thursday following prolonged illness, share an unlikely connection with Bollywood legend Dilip Kumar, revealed the former BCCI secretary, Jaywant Lele.
“During his college days, Dilip Kumar had no money and was staying in a common chawl. He was struggling to get job in the film industry,” Lele was quoted saying by pakobserver.net.
“This came to Rungta’s knowledge and helped him in all possible ways. In those days Dilip Kumar was paid for his tram tickets to go to the studio. All his expenses were paid by Rungtaji.
“Once in a CCI lawn, I was surprised to see Dilip Kumar, with his wife Saira Banu, touching Rungta’s feet, though being two years younger than Bhaiji.

“Rungta was a very generous man. During his tenure as a BCCI president, all meetings in Jaipur were sponsored by Rungta. During matches in Mumbai, we used to be served food from his house,” Lele concluded.
