Former India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik, who is currently featuring for the Paarl Royals in the SA20 2025, claimed a massive record. The 39-year-old became the highest-scoring Indian wicketkeeper in T20 cricket with his knock of 21 runs from 15 deliveries against the Durban Super Giants on January 27.

Karthik has now scored 7,451 runs in T20s from 361 innings, overtaking legendary India wicketkeeper MS Dhoni, who has so far scored 7,432 runs in 342 innings. The latter will have the chance to re-claim the record in the upcoming IPL season when he will be featuring for the Chennai Super Kings.

While Karthik now leads the way when it comes to Indian wicketkeepers with most runs in T20s, Dhoni still holds the record for wicketkeepers with the most runs scored in IPL. The latter has 5,125 runs in the league and is followed by Karthik, who has 4,463 runs.

Karthik’s side in SA20, Paarl Royals have so far been brilliant in the ongoing season. They so far have won 7 out of their 8 matches and currently sit at the top of the table with 28 points.
