During the Champions Trophy 2025 clash between India and Pakistan, the Men in Blue were going with a strong momentum throughout the match from the beginning. Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer were two players who made significant contributions to the team total. However, it was India’s batting maestro Virat Kohli who was the star of he match.
Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten century and made India cross their mediocre target of 242 runs. The match was nearing it’s end as Kohli was closing in on his century, and Pakistan team was trying their best to avoid that milestone for the batting star. However, with a boundary, the former captain completed his century, also winning the match for the team.
Axar Patel who was on the pitch with Kohli at the final moments of the match, as the team needed 19 runs to win with Kohli on 86. Axar spoke to ICC and shared how he was making calculations about his teammate reaching the 100-run mark.
“At the end, actually main bhi thoda maths kar raha tha unke hundred ke liye (Even I was doing the math for his hundred towards the end). I was hoping that I don’t edge the ball or something. So, it was quite fun,” Axar said in video posted by ICC.
“It was the first time I got to watch a high-pressure game from the dressing room where Virat bhaiya scored a century. I had a lot of fun, and the way he was running between the wickets after fielding for 50 overs is a testament to his fitness,” Axar added.
India won that match in 42.3 overs, with the last shot being by Kohli himself, pushing the team over the needed total of 241. India posted 244 runs and secured a victory. With this victory, India’s chances of playing in the semifinals are almost confirmed. Since the Men in Blue have performed well in their two clashes as of now, they will surely eye to secure the ICC title this time as well.
