Kolkata Knight Riders delivered a commanding performance on Friday as they defeated a Chennai Super Kings side by eight wickets in IPL 2025 match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
After being asked to bat first, CSK’s batting collapsed under pressure and they managed to post a total of just 103 runs for 9, marking their lowest-ever score at their home ground, Chepauk. The batting lineup failed to click, with only a few players making notable contributions. Shivam Dube remained unbeaten on 31, while Vijay Shankar and Rahul Tripathi failed to contibute with the bat as they scored 29 and 16 runs respectively.
KKR’s bowlers were on fire from the start. Sunil Narine once again proved his value with the ball, returning impressive figures of 3 for 13. He was well-supported by Harshit Rana (2/16) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/22), who ensured regular breakthroughs and kept the pressure on CSK throughout the innings.
Chasing a target of just 104 runs, Kolkata Knight Riders reached 107 in just 10.1 overs, despite losing the wicket of Quinton de Kock and Sunil Narine. Their top order ensured a smooth and efficient finish to the game, leaving CSK with no chance to recover.
This impressicve win highlights KKR’s strength in both bowling and batting departments, while CSK will need to go back to the drawing board after a disappointing show at home
