On Monday, March 4, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, the women of Royal Challengers Bangalore and UP Warriorz squared off in Game 11 of the current Womens Premier League (WPL 2024). The second innings was one of the game’s main highlights as Bangalore kept up their recent winning streak.
Renowned cricketer Chamari Athapaththu of Sri Lanka was the victim of one of the most contentious DRS rulings of the competition. Athapaththu was hit in the pads in the seventh over of the second innings, but after a strong protest, the umpire chose not to award it.
But according to a Bangalore assessment, the DRS was displaying an entirely different picture. The delivery should have turned left and the leg stump should have been absent according to the hawkeye’s projection. Nevertheless, Chamari Athapaththu was fired after the delivery went awry, like a googly.

Same video has been doing the rounds on X (formerly known as Twitter). When the Bangalore players celebrated the wicket, Athapaththu was shocked to discover that Alyssa Healy, the captain of the UP Warriorz, and the DRS were fighting with the referee.
Bangalore batted first in their match against UP Warriorz, Mandhana scored 80 runs, with Ellyse Perry contributing another 58 runs. In the first innings, Bangalore was successful in putting 198 runs on the board.
