Rain continued to play spoilsport in the Duleep Trophy 2013 final between North Zone and South Zone with the fourth and the regulation final day’s play also called off due to a wet ground at Kochi on Sunday.
Umpires Sanjay Hazare and Suresh Shastri inspected the ground this morning and decided that it was too sluggish to conduct the proceedings.
Umpires will decide the use of reserve day based on the conditions on Monday with play scheduled to start 15 minutes early if weather permits.
The first and third day’s play was also called off without a ball being bowled and with Sunday, a total of 350 overs have been lost due to the bad weather and soggy conditions.
“Another day wasted in Kochi due to rain.#duleep trophy final.time to hit the gym again (sic),” tweeted North Zone captain Harbhajan Singh after play was called off.
Only day two of the match witnessed some action when South Zone won the toss and were reduced to 33 for 2 in 10 overs.
