Baba Aparajith brought up his fifth First Class half-century during South Zone’s chase of the 301-run target against Central Zone in the Duleep Trophy final at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi on Sunday. Aparajith reached the milestone in 50 balls, with South Zone currently positioned at 226 for three after 63.3 overs, needing another 75 runs to win the tournament.

South Zone resumed the fourth day from a score of 184 for one. The third day saw both sides succeed with the bat. While Central Zone finished on a score of 403, with Robin Bist remanining unbeaten on a score of 112, South Zone were off to a strong start in their chase of the 301-run target. It was also a day of milestones, with Bist and Rahul completing 4,000 and 2,000 First Class runs respectively. Rahul also became the tenth batsman in Duleep Trophy history to score a century in each innings of the final.
