Duleep Trophy 2019 final: Jaydev Unadkat’s four wickets restrict India Green to 147/8
Unadkat returned with impressive figures of 4/58 in his 18 overs at a miserly economy rate of 3.22.
Saurashtra left-arm fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat pocketed four wickets on the opening day that helped India Red restrict India Green to 147/8 in the Duleep Trophy final at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
Opting to bat, India Green kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Unadkat, who let Saurashtra to the Ranji Trophy final last season, struck early in the seventh over when he trapped captain Faiz Fazal lbw for just 12. Number three batsman Dhruv Shorey batted well for his 23 off 37, but failed to capitalise after his stay was cut short by Sandeep Warrier in the 17th over.
In the following over, Siddhesh Lad became Unadkat's next victim and departed without troubling the scorers. Akshdeep Nath looked good in his 29 off 46 his innings studded with five boundaries before he fell to Vidarbha spinner Aditya Sarwate in the 32nd over. Akshay Wadkar was then cleaned up by Unadkat, who returned later to dismiss Rajesh Mohanty for nought -- the last wicket of the day -- thus completing his four-wicket haul.
At stumps, Punjab batsman Mayank Markande was batting on 32 with Tanveer-ul-Haq giving him company on 8.
Unadkat returned with impressive figures of 4/58 in his 18 overs at a miserly economy rate of 3.22. Warrier, Avesh Khan and Sarwate all added one wicket each.
Brief scores: India Green 147/8 (Mayank Markande 32*; Jaydev Unadkat 4/58) versus India Red
