Farokh Engineer, the former India wicketkeeper has supported Sunil Gavaskar‘s call to replace Duncan Fletcher as coach of India. Earlier, Gavaskar had expressed that Fletcher should not continue and that India needed a younger coach.
Speaking at the Legends Club meeting in Mumbai, Engineer said, “Of course. When he was appointed coach, I was not in favor of it. Sunil is right. Don’t we have guys in out country. Sunil suggested Rahul Dravid which is good.”
Engineer also said that if India have to be No 1, they have to beat all the other nations in their own den. He said that the last time India toured England, they were unprepared and had come from West Indies, where they had abandoned the runchase in the third Test at Dominica
With India touring England for five Tests this year, Engineer said that he is ready to help the team free of cost and has told the Board that. Engineer played county cricket for years and knows the conditions well there.
