Caribbean batsman Dwayne Smith announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday. Smith, who is 33 years-old, is currently busy playing in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2017 for Misbah-ul-Haq-led Islamabad United. As reported by ESPNCricinfo, Smith confirmed his retirement news before the second qualifying match of PSL, which is being played between Islamabad and Karachi Kings at Sharjah. He last represented West Indies in an ODI against United Arab Emirates (UAE) in World Cup 2015. Smith made his debut for West Indies back in January 2004 in a Test against South Africa at Newlands, Cape Town after Marlon Samuels had to fly back home due to a knee injury.

Smith impressed everyone with his batting in his maiden Test by hitting an unbeaten century in the final innings at a strike-rate of 100. His attacking century helped West Indies draw the match and end losing streak of seven Tests against South Africa. However, West Indies still lost the series by 3-1.

Though Smith did not enjoy much success in Tests as he got to play only 10 Tests, in which he scored 320 runs at 24.61. He also picked seven wickets in his brief Test career. His last Test was against New Zealand at Napier. Besides Tests, he had a better-run in limited-overs format, though his numbers were poor. He played 105 ODIs and scored 1,560 runs at 18.57. In T20Is, Smith played 33 matches and scored only 582 runs at 18.18.
