Ellyse Perry on Wednesday became only the third woman cricketer to have scalped 150 ODI wickets. The Australian allrounder dismissed Reniece Boyce in the second over during the third ODI against West Indies at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound in Antigua as she achieved the feat.
India’s Jhulan Goswami tops the chart of the leading ODI wicket-takers, having scalped 218 wickets, while Perry, who now has 150 ODI wickets, is on number three behind compatriot Cathryn Fitzpatrick.
Fitzpatrick, who was recently inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame along with Sachin Tendulkar and Allan Donald, ended her ODI career with 180 wickets against her name in 109 ODIs. She was a part of Australia’s two World Cup-winning squads.

Perry also became the second-fastest to reach the landmark. While Fitzpatrick was the fastest to the 150-wicket landmark, achieving the feat in 91 innings, Perry needed 107 innings for the same. Goswami, meanwhile, reached the milestone in 128 innings.
In August this year, former England captain Charlotte Edwards had praised Perry. “I loved playing against her and she’s definitely improved a lot since I stopped playing,” Edwards had said.
“You knew then she’d become an unbelievable batter, she was mainly a bowler in my career and now we see what an unbelievable allrounder she is and the greatest female player we’re ever going to see. In one skill alone, in terms of bowling or batting she’d be a great. And she’s getting better and better with age, she’s only 28, it’s quite scary really to think what she can achieve in the next few years,” she added.
