Hosts England were off to a slow and steady start as they were batting steady at the score of 67 for the loss of a wicket against visitors South Africa, on Day One of the fourth and final Test of the Basil D’Oliveira Trophy 2017 at Old Trafford in Manchester on Friday. England lost the only wicket in the form of Keaton Jennings, who fell for mere 17 to Duanne Olivier, after being caught behind by Quinton de Kock. Currently former skipper Alastair Cook, along with Tom Westley are at the crease, with both the batsmen batting on 31 and 19, respectively. Earlier, England skipper Joe Root won the toss and elected to bat first, as they moved in with an unchanged squad from the win in 3rd Test at The Oval. South Africa, on the other hand, were forced to make a couple of changes, as Vernon Philander and Chris Morris were ruled out for lower back strain, making way for Theunis de Bruyn and Duanne Olivier. England were off to a steady start. However, it was with just 35 runs on the baord, when they lost their opening wicket in the form of Jennings. Nevertheless, the English batsmen hardly panicked and the next pair of Cook, along with Westley made sure that they settle down easily, and have so far played a stable innings of an unbeaten 32.
