England all-rounder Stuart Broad is recovering fast from his injury and is likely to take part in the first Test against India, which begins on November 15 at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad.

According to a report in the Guardian, “As it stands, both the injured bowlers, Steve Finn and Stuart Broad, have made excellent progress (Finn particularly so, beyond expectation). Both will have their workload increased heavily in the build up to the match.”

“But while Broad is a certainty to play, it is now highly unlikely that Finn will be risked, and he must wait until the second Test in Mumbai,” the report added.

England vice-captain Broad could not bowl on the third and final day of the drawn warm-up game against Mumbai A as he had a bruised left heel, for which he underwent a scan.

“Scans show Broad has bruised left heel. Was fit to field but could not bowl today. Progress will be monitored over next couple of days,” said a spokesperson of the team.

Broad, who captained the side in the absence of regular skipper Alastair Cook, bowled only 10 overs yesterday because of the heel injury.
