England’s assistant coach Paul Farbrace has stated that England will have a tough time when they tour the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to play Pakistan later this year. According to him, the challenge of that series may be greater for England than the one they were presented by the number two ranked Australian cricket team in the Ashes 2015. “Conditions are very different and Pakistan are a fantastic side in those conditions,” Farbrace said. The series will be as tough, if not tougher, than the current one,” Farbrace was quoted by foxsports.com.au. ALSO READ: Steve Smith admits Australian players failed to adapt to swinging ball

Australia may be ranked number two in the world but their performances oscillate between being emphatic to poor depending on the conditions they are presented with. They have been absolutely emphatic at home on the bouncy track which they’ve used to torment visiting batsmen.

Any pitch that has offered bounce, the Australians have feasted as reflected in their impressive away series win over South Africa. But in alien conditions they have usually struggled as was reflected in their 0-2 whitewash in UAE at the hands of Pakistan and now in the on-going Ashes 2015, where they have lost the series 1-3 with one Test to go.

Like other teams, Pakistan have mastered home conditions, albeit in their case the adopted home. Hence Farbrace has a very valid point when he says that England will probably have a tougher time in UAE against Pakistan as compared to their home-Ashes series against an unadaptive Australian side.
