England‘s second warm-up match against Mumbai A ended in a draw on Thursday with the tourists reaching 149 for two from 52 overs in their second innings, on the third day at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

England will now take on Haryana in the third and the final tour game at Ahmedabad starting November 8, before the start of the four-match Test series against India.

Nick Compton staked his claim for selection in the Test side with a fluent knock of 64 not out off 162 balls.

Ian Bell remained unbeaten on 28.

Earlier at tea. England advanced to 85 for one in the second innings on the third and last day of their warm-up game.

England thus grabbed a 59-run first innings lead over Mumbai A after bowling out the hosts for 286 in their first essay.

Joe Root and Compton, both vying for the vacant opening spot after Andrew Strauss retirement, played sedately before the former got out to Shardul Thakur for 24.

The duo gave the best opening start for the tourists in three innings so far, 38, before the 21-year-old Root was dismissed when he shouldered arms and was trapped in front by Thakur.
