Negotiations are underway between the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Sri Lanka Cricket to adopt a method similar to the one by virtue of which Australia women regained the Ashes in England last summer. The women’s teams had gone head-to-head with each other, across all the formats as points were allocated for wins in each of them to achieve a winning aggregate. The same methodology is being thought of to be used when England play host to Sri Lanka and Pakistan in the summer.

England will be up against Sri Lanka in three Test matches. The first of which will be played in Leeds in the month of May. The Tests will be followed by five one-day internationals (ODI’s) and finally one T20 International in Southampton in early July. England will then be playing at home against Pakistan. The 3-month tour will feature four Test matches, followed by five One-day internationals (ODI’s) and will finish with one T20 International match at Old Trafford in the month of September. After each bi-lateral tour, a presentation might be made to the overall winning team, most probably after the final fixture or after one team has an invincible lead.

Meanwhile, England will be captained by Alastair Cook in the Test matches against Sri Lanka and Pakistan during the two series, whereas, Eoin Morgan will be leading the side in the ODI’s and T20 Internationals. Trevor Bayliss will be England’s coach during the series.
