England captain Stuart Broad won the toss and elected to field against South Africa in the second Twenty20 International at Old Trafford, Manchester on Monday.
South Africa currently lead the three-match series 1-0 after beating England by seven wickets in the first T20 tie at Chester-le-Street.
Dale Steyn was awarded the Man of the Match for his figures of 4-0-13-1 with the ball. The hosts struggled against the spinners Johan Botha and Robin Peterson both of whom picked up two wickets apiece.
Kallis, returning to international duty after being rested from the drawn one-day series between the two countries, made 48 not out of 44 balls with seven fours.
England struggled with their batting as they managed to post only 118 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Craig Kieswetter top-scored for England with 25 runs.
