Rishabh Pant left his whole fanbase stunned as he had a severe demotion in his batting order during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash against Delhi Capitals on April 22 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. After a horrible start of the season, Rishabh Pat walked out to bat at No. 7 when only 2 balls were remaining.

As Rishabh Pant came out at No. 7, this meant Abdul Samad got promoted in batting lineup. Ayush Badoni then came out to bat next. Badoni was not in the original playing XI, but was then brought in as the impact player. Pant finally came to bat during the 20th over at No. 7 after Badoni got dismissed, when the final 2 balls of their innings were remaining.

The most expensive player in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) is Rishabh Pant, who was taken by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for Rs. 27 crore. Following his dismal performance, there have been questions over his leadership and over his form. Some even stated that MS Dhoni contributes more to his team at the age of 43.

Talking about Rishabh Pant, he he scored only 106 runs in eight innings. Apart from that, he has played two matches against his former team Delhi Capitals (DC), and has been dismissed for a duck in both the matches.

Coming to the match a fantastic exhibition of clever variations by Delhi’s pace troika, couple with an injury to skipper Rishabh Pant, left Lucknow Super Giants in complete tatters as the hosts managed only 159 for 6 in an IPL match here on Tuesday.

The trio of Mukesh Kumar (4/33 in 4 overs), Mitchell Starc (1/25 in 4 overs) and Dushmantha Chameera (1/25 in 3 overs) used different kinds of slower deliveries to perfection as LSG huffed and puffed their way past the 150-run mark after being 87/1 at the end of 10 overs.

In the remaining 10 overs, LSG could manage only 72 runs recording their lowest team total of the tournament so far. Pant’s injured palm also hurt LSG’s chances of propping up their total with the skipper coming in at No.7 for a two-ball duck.
