Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were beat by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 8 wickets. This marks the fifth consecutive loss for CSK. They are down, and are looking like the team with one of the worst outcome this season. However, they still have the chance to qualify for the playoffs.
CSK is currently at the ninth position on the points table, as they have only 2 points and a Net Run Rate of -1.554. There are still 8 matches remaining for them. If they manage to win 7 of these 8 matches their tally of points will go up to 16. A team with 16 points on the table is usually deemed fit to qualify for the playoffs. In case if they will all the remaining 8 matches, then they will qualify for playoffs without a doubt.
Coming to the match, KKR had won the toss and decided to bowl first and fully made use of the pitch at Chepauk. They had wrapped up CSK for 103/9 in their given 20 overs. There were only two batters in the whole lineup who managed to score more than 20 runs, namely Vijay Shankar (29) and Shivam Dube (31).
Sunil Narine stole the show with his bowling, as he took 3 wickets while giving out just 13 runs in his given four overs. Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy did their fair share of work, as they both took 2 wickets for the team.

KKR came in to chase, and completed their target in just 10.1 overs with 8 wickets to spare. This was an easy win for the team. Sunil Narine was the top scorer for the team, as he scored a quick 44 off 17 balls. For his extraordinary bowling and quick-fire batting, Narine was even given the Player of the Match award.
