Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Rohit Sharma is not featuring in the match against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Friday. MI captain Hardik Pandya revealed at the time of the toss that the veteran batter had sustained a knee injury in the training session.
Hardik also revealed that star pacer Jasprit Bumrah will soon be joining the MI squad and will also soon be seen in action. This will be a major boost for the Mumbai-based franchise, who are desperate for the services of an experienced seamer like Bumrah.
Bumrah was sidelined during the fifth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar series where he sustained a back injury. He was also not part of India’s Champions Trophy winning squad and was replaced by Harshit Rana.
“MI don’t want to talk about the pitch and just want to ‘play good cricket’. It is tempting to watch other teams and play in a certain way, but it is important to play sensibly,” Pandya said ahead of the LSG clash.

On the other hand, LSG also made a massive change to their lineup and brought in pacer Akash Deep, who was bought for a fee of INR 8 crore at the mega auction last year. He is set to feature in his first competitive match after the fifth Test against Australia at the MCG last year.
