Faf Du Plessis Injury Update: Axar Patel speaks about South African Batter’s Return to Action

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) is performing significantly well in the IPL 2025. The franchise is at the top of the points table with five victories to their name. However, even after this victory, DC’s veteran batter Faf du Plessis being injured has raised the tension in the team. Captain Axar Patel has now given a major update on Faf’s injury.
Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel hopes that Faf du Plessis might be available for selection before they play their match against Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 19. Although Axar is not completely sure about it, and has not revealed the extent of the injury.
Axar Patel stated that he was previously told that Faf would not be able to play for at least three matches, and the Super Over victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) marked the second match. He said that there are chances of du Plessis playing in the match against GT, but will have to get assurance from the physios.

DC would prefer if Faf du Plessis marks his return to the batting order as soon as possible, especially since their opener Jake Fraser McGurk is out of form, having scored just 55 runs in 6 matches with the best score of 38. However, in the absence of Faf, Abhishek Porel has taken the responsibility to come and open for the team, and is the second-best performer for Delhi Capitals. Porel has scored 156 runs in 6 innings with a strike rate of 143.11.
