Renowned Bollywood director and choreographer Farah Khan is set to become the face of the Indian Premier League (IPL) next season after beating choreographer-director Prabhu Deva in the race, says a media report.
According to a report in the Hindustan Times, the filmmaker will shoot 30-second advertisements for the popular Indian T20 tournament. A source was quoted by the newspaper as saying, “This will mark Farah’s first association with cricket. She will shoot 30-second advertisements for the IPL, in which she will teach the crowd how to cheer every time someone hits a six or a four. She will choreograph these steps herself and the ads will be aired during each break during the IPL.”
The report further added that Farah pipped Prabhu Deva in the race as the feeling was that, in comparison, she will have a greater impact on the audience.
“They are both excellent dancers, but Farah was chosen because she will have a greater impact on the audience. Once everything is finalised, an official announcement will be made,” the source said.
Farah, who is a good friend of Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan, the owner of the franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), will be involved in the promotion of the tournament.
The source added, “She has friends who own teams, but as part of this deal, she will only promote the tournament.”
The choreographer, however, did not confirm the news. “I’m not in a position to comment on this subject,” Farah was quoted by the newspaper as saying.
