During the Cooch Behar Trophy final match between Karnataka and Mumbai, young Prakhar Chaturvedi made history. Chaturvedi got things started for Karnataka in the first innings at the KSCA Navule Stadium, driving his team to a massive score against Mumbai. In the U-19 competition final, Chaturvedi broke a huge record by remaining undefeated in the first innings with an individual score of 400.
Karthik S U, the opener, and Chaturvedi put up 109 runs for the first wicket. Chaturvedi’s fellow criminal added to the total with a resolute 50 off 67 balls. The Karnataka opener, along with No. 3 batsman Harshil Dharmani, set the stage for a huge first-inning score against Mumbai. Chaturvedi performed a long knock of 404 off 638 balls to boost his status in the domestic arena, while Dharmani hit 169 off 228 balls.
In the Cooch Behar Trophy final, Chaturvedi becomes the first player to score 400.
With Dharmani, Chaturvedi pieced together an incredible 290 runs off 411 balls. In the final, Chaturvedi scored 70 more runs during his 152-run partnership with Karthikeya KP. Samit Dravid, the son of Rahul Dravid who recently made waves during the domestic championship, and Prakar also shared a 41-stand together. The first player to score 400 in the Cooch Behar Trophy final is premier hitter Chaturvedi. Chaturvedi, the Karnataka opener, frustrated the Mumbai bowlers with an entertaining performance that included 46 fours.
Chaturvedi broke all previous records in the Cooch Behar Trophy final with three consecutive maximums. In the U-19 championship final, the Chaturvedi-starrer team faced Mumbai and played 223 overs under the direction of Dheeraj Gowda. With Chaturvedi’s innings-ending blow, Karnataka defeated Mumbai by scoring 890/8 in 223 overs.
Prem Devkar took three wickets for Mumbai and conceded 136 runs in 30 overs. In the lopsided event final, Devkar split eight wickets with Akash Pawar (1), Manan Bhatt (2), and Nutan (2). Based on a 145-run innings by Ayush Mhatre, Mumbai scored 380 in their opening 113 overs.
