Australia’s middle-order batsman Michael Hussey, who was not included in the World Cup squad due to a hamstring injury, is all set to return to action in Western Australia’s Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania, Sydney Morning Herald reported.
Hussey met Western Australia coach Mickey Arthur and physiotherapist Rob Colling and informed about his availability. “I’m ready to play. It’s up to you to decide whether to pick me but I won’t let you down if you do,” Hussey told the pair during a fitness session at the WACA Stadium in Perth on Sunday.
The left-hander recovered in just 35 days from the injury that ripped off his knee bone during the first ODI match against England last month.
Despite of Australian physio informing the selectors that Hussey is recovering fast and is well ahead of the schedule and would be available for Australia’s second match, the classy batsman was not selected for the World Cup.
Australia will play their World Cup opening game against Zimbabwe on Monday, February 21 at Ahmedabad.
