A social media post by Spanish football club Barcelona confirmed that Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer visited the club on Monday.
“Thanks for the visit, Shreyas Iyer. Once a culer, always a cule,” Barcelona posted on X, (formerly Twitter).
On Sunday, the Indian men’s cricket team joined the Manchester United football team during their post-match training session ahead of the fourth Test of the five-match series against England at Old Trafford Stadium.
The Indian cricket team posted an image on Instagram titled ‘United in Manchester’ that showed both teams engaging in sports, including cricket and football.
While Mohammed Siraj bowled to Harry Maguire, Shubman Gill and his deputy, Rishabh Pant, were photographed taking penalties in Red Devils shirts and Siraj was also seen taking a penalty with his teammate.
A photo of India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, embracing Portuguese tactician Ruben Amorim, was one of the most memorable moments. Laughter could also be heard as Bruno Fernandes and Shubman Gill recreated the moment.
Kuldeep Yadav, an avid football fan, was spotted paying attention to Amorim during a huddle with his team as he watched Amorim speak.
Anshul Kamboj has been added to India’s Test squad for the ongoing tour of England after left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh sustained a deep cut on his bowling hand on Sunday. Kamboj, a 24-year-old Haryana cricketer who has taken 79 wickets in 24 first-class matches, played for India A last month in two three-day games, taking five wickets in total. The upcoming match in Manchester is a must-win for India, with England leading the series 2-1.
