Close on the heels of Sachin Tendulkar saying that Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the best Indian captain he has played under, former India captain Sourav Ganguly lent more solidity to that statement saying that Dhoni is the greatest captain India ever had.
Ganguly, who led India to the 2003 World Cup final in South Africa, has said that Dhoni’s record in all forms of the game speaks volumes about his captaincy credentials. “There can’t be any doubt about it,”Ganguly told a Mumbai –based tabloid Mid-Day.
“Dhoni is the greatest captain of our country. His record is proof of that. Under Dhoni, India have won the Twenty20 World Cup and the Asia Cup. Under him, India have become the No. 1 ranked side in Test cricket. And now, we have won the World Cup. Obviously, he is the greatest ever captain to lead India,” Ganguly showered praise on the Indian captain.
It may be mentioned here that Dhoni made his international debut under Ganguly, before evolving as a key player under Rahul Dravid’s captaincy. The Jharkhand dasher eventually took over the reins of the side and Ganguly even played under him in the closing stages of his international career.
