Gautam Gambhir, the Kolkata Knight Riders captain, had an altercation with the umpire during the first game of the main draw of the Champions League T20 (CLT20) 2014. Gambhir wasn’t happy with a wide that was called in the penultimate over of the Chennai Super Kings innings and went on to approach umpire C Shamshuddin. Gambhir was seen through the umpire’s camera, angrily speaking to him and showing his displeasure at the incident.

Gambhir continued to argue for a few seconds before his teammate and wicketkeeper, Manvinder Bisla came in and stopped him from doing so. He took Gambhir away from the umpire for the game to begin again. Kolkata chased down a target of 158 in dramatic circumstances. After being reduced to 21 for four, and then 51 for five, Kolkata bounced back in style with Ryan ten Doeschate and Andre Russell smashing their way around.
